Hi, I'm Sarah, a website developer and photographer from New York City.

Bio

When my family got our first computer with internet access in the mid-90s I found a new passion in creating websites. I started out by reading the source code of sites that I liked, to figure out how to write the code. I made my own Geocities "homepage" and then started making websites for anyone who I could get to agree. I had my first paying client at age 16, creating a site "where you can get pen-pals, read newsletters, get jobs, have fun and earn points for awesome stuff." It was probably one of the very first social networking sites. I also created my high school soccer team's website. In college, I decided not to chose a programming major. Despite my academic choice, I continued to make websites for friends, family and my professors.

I moved to New York after college and took a job as a social worker. After three years, I was burned out. I started taking classes toward a Web Development certificate at New York University and looking for clients again. I completed courses in CSS, JavaScript, Flash, PHP & MySQL and learned XHTML and XML, which basically means that I have training in a wide variety of technologies and can choose the tools that best fit each challenge.

I sometimes work as a Teaching Assistant at NYU, with the inspiring instructors I took classes with. However, my primary focus is working with clients. I really enjoy working one on one with small business owners and individuals. Since I started working as a web developer I have had the pleasure to work with many people of varied backgrounds and needs. Check out my web portfolio to see some of the sites I have made and what the clients have to say.

Another passion of mine is photography. I have had a camera as far back as I can remember. Last summer I stayed in Costa Rica for two months and took digital photography classes with a professional photographer. I am really excited to start incorporating photography into my web work, possibly by adding portraits, product photos, or any other photos the client may need to enhance their site.
