Sample Work

XHTML, CSS & JavaScript

  • CSS Zen Garden: The goal of the CSS Zen Garden is to "excite, inspire, and encourage participation" of graphic designers, in CSS development. To participate, you cannot modify the HTML, but only an external CSS file. This is what the page looks like with my CSS file attached to it.
  • Captian Schoonmaker's B&B: This is a site redesign that I completed for my final project of my JavaScript class at NYU. I converted the site to valid XHTML, redesigned the color scheme and layout using an external CSS file, optimized the images for faster download, and used JavaScript to create image rollover effects and to check a cookie to see whether the visitor has been to the site before.
  • Online Wedding RSVP Form: I created a valid XHTML form, and kept the presentation (CSS) and the behavior (JavaScript) separate. The HTML file references the separate CSS file and JavaScript file which, in conjunction, really give this form some great functionality. Try clicking a few items to see what happens. Try submitting the form without completing all the fields and see what happens.
  • Beatrix Alpine Vacation Rentals: I created this site from scratch, using text and images provided by the client.
  • StoneRaven Media: I also partner with StoneRaven Media to provide the CSS and validate the HMTL. StoneRaven provides the content and search engine optimization. Some sites that we have completed:

Flash

  • Christmas Present: This is a flash project I did to capture most of the skills I learned in my course. It includes XML data (which can be updated without editing the flash file), the use of random to generate snow flakes of different sizes, speeds and rotations, the use of an mp3 song, and much more. Check out this directory for the source files.

Flash & PHP

  • Song Picker: This flash application loads a button for each song and allows the user to chose a song to play. It then loads the album cover and lyrics and allows the user to control the playback of the song. Finally, the vote button calls a php function to store the votes in a database and display the percent of votes for each song.
